Living a Legacy: Dr. Wesley Duewel By David E. Dick, VP-at-Large, One Mission Society Wesley Duewel was born in St. Charles, Missouri, in 1916 to God-honoring parents. His father was an evangelical pastor, Bible college president, and radio preacher. His mother was a godly woman, with a deep and meaningful prayer life. According to his mother’s testimony, Wesley made his first profession of faith as a child, and soon thereafter, testified to his call to serve as a missionary to India. Throughout his life, he made many life-changing decisions based on the increasing spiritual maturity that became evident in his heart, through his youth and young adult experiences, during his missionary service in India, while serving as the fifth President of OMS, and now, through his writing ministry. Wesley relied on prayer and God’s guidance as he met and married his first wife, Betty Raisch, in 1939. By 1940, Wesley and and Betty Duewel were among the first group of seven One Mission Society missionaries who sailed for India. For 25 years, Wesley and Betty carried a special burden for a praying, spirit-filled church in India. Every ministry activity was earmarked with 18
