In Memoriam In 2018, One Mission Society lost several beloved missionaries. We now honor and remember these OMS missionaries who served with distinction for 10 years or more. Hudson Hess and his wife, Lucy, devoted 50 years of their lives to serving the people of Haiti through teach- ing, vocational training, and agriculture. Hudson’s goal was to help Haitians become self-sufficient, enabling them to support their families and serve their commu- nities. They also served for two years in France and for a short time at the OMS World Headquarters. Grant Nealis began his career with OMS as a short- term missionary to Japan for two years. He married Dottie in 1958, and together, in 1961, they embarked for Hong Kong, where they served faithfully for 22 years. Upon their return to the U.S., Grant worked in the National and International Ministries Departments, cultivating constituents and raising scholarship endow- ment funds. Nell Oldham moved to Greenwood, Indiana, with her husband Jim in 1979 to begin serving at the OMS World Headquarters. The Oldhams also served in Hong Kong and South Korea and as regional directors in Washington and California. Through the years, Nell served as field hostess and director of English Ministries for the Greenwood area, and she opened her home weekly to international students from the University of California. 22
