That’s the view of Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Transportation Nadine Stewart-Phillips, who said she’s seeing progress in the event. The Festival showcased the island’s culture through its dance, drama, music, and folklore traditions. During yesterday’s (August 2) post Executive Council media briefing, Stewart-Phillips said she attended every event to “get a firsthand [look] of all the presentations, even as we’re looking at [making] improvements”. Under the theme “Len’ Hand”, the Secretary said she was happy people came forward and contributed, including many young participants. It was her first time as Secretary in charge of the Festival, which Stewart-Phillips described as “a learning event”. She said the Division also conducted research via surveys to gather feedback about the event. “All that information will help us with our decision making going forward when that data is compiled,” she said. ‘JAYCEES’ STOP BY: Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, right, presents Junior Chamber International (JCI) West Indies national vice president Khaleid Holder with a copy of the book “Our Tobago, Our Heritage” during a courtesy call at the Office of the Chief Secretary, Administrative Complex, Calder Hall office earlier today (August 3, 2017).
