The Spirit of Community Commission WELCOMES YOU! The Spirit of Community Commission is a partnership between the City of Delano, Delano Public Schools, Delano Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Delano faith community. This commission is responsible to study, investigate, and make recommendations regarding health, safety, community involvement and the fair and equal treatment of all persons who are members of the Delano community. Additionally, the commission will promote an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation among community members by building the Spirit of Community and improving public engagement. Ways to build the Spirit of Community: Volunteer Join & Participate in a Civic Group Invite a New Resident Over for Dinner Host a Neighborhood Party Help Somebody in Need Use the Library Have Lunch at the Senior Center Visit the Farmers’ Market Delano United Diversity Task Force is a campaign in the Delano community to combat discrimination. During its first year, the Task Force has hosted a number of conversations and educational events around topics of diversity. These have included community book reads, speakers, meetings, and more. The Task Force is a volunteer-driven organization – new faces are always welcome.
