Delano Helping Hands Food Shelf
Delano Helping Hands food shelf, located in the Delano
Community Education building, 140 Elm Ave., Delano, Minnesota
55328. The food shelf was founded in 1985, and it is supported
entirely by volunteer efforts.
The food shelf is open for food distribution each Thursday from
2 to 4 p.m. and also every third Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. The
organization helps about 50 families on a monthly basis. Delano
Helping Hands is a member of Second Harvest Heartland, a
Minneapolis-St. Paul food bank that partners with organizations
and volunteers to feed hungry people. Through this partnership,
Delano Helping Hands is able to purchase food at a modest price
and participate in food rescue programs with local businesses.
The food shelf relies on monetary and food donations for support.
These donations come from individuals, area churches, businesses,
and civic organizations throughout the community. Through these
generous donations, the food shelf is able to continue to serve the
hungry in our area. If anyone is interested in helping at the food
shelf, call your local church. Help us help others. Choose to donate
your time, food, or money. Every little bit helps. We can all make a
difference. If you are in need contact us to learn more on how we
can assist you and your family in a way that preserves dignity and
respect.
