Franklin TOWNSHIP The Franklin Township hall and shop is located at 8735 Wright County Road 16 SE, and is the official polling place for all general, primary, and township elections. The Franklin Township board meets at the town hall the first Monday of each month, at 7 p.m. (except when the meeting date falls on a holiday, in which case meetings are the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. An annual meeting and township election take place the second Tuesday in March. Franklin Township’s road maintenance staff consists of two full-time employees. Burning permits Burning permits are required and may be obtained at www. dnr.state.mn.us/burningpermits. Permits obtained through this system are valid for the calendar year in which they are purchased, but must be activated each day burning occurs. The fee for this annual open burning permit is $5. Permits may also be obtained at a cost of $1 for a three- day permit. Recycling Single-sort, curbside recycling for every resident of Franklin Township is picked up every other Wednesday. A recycling schedule, along with pertinent township information, is mailed out each April to every township resident. Randy’s Environmental Services is the township’s provider. The township road right-of-way is usually 66 feet (33 feet from the center of the road). A good rule of thumb is to keep everything back 15 feet from the edge of the road. To obtain the required permit to work within the township right-of-way or for additional information, call any board member, the clerk, or deputy clerk. Driveway/culvert permits are required. Call any board member to get this permit before starting any work. 911 signs are required and cost $87 for the sign, post, delivery and installation. Call any board member to order.
