The Delano Senior Center strives to provide services that help meet the needs of people 55 and older. Local residents are invited to participate in the many programs offered through the Center. The Senior Dining Program, operated by Catholic Charities Senior Dining, offers both a congregate dining and a Meals-on-Wheels program for homebound seniors. A well-balanced noon meal prepared on-site is served at the Senior Center or delivered by volunteers to homebound seniors. These meals are delivered through a network of volunteers drivers. Meals-on-Wheels is available to seniors 60 and older living in the cities of Delano, Maple Plain, Independence, Rockford, Loretto, as well as Franklin Township. Volunteer opportunities include receptionist, Meals-on-Wheels drivers, kitchen aides, group leaders, serving on an advisory board and more. Motor Vehicle Department. This office, located within City Hall, provides a variety of services to meet the needs of our citizens. This office handles all motor vehicle transactions and all DNR vehicle transactions. Some services include: tab renewals, new and new- to-state vehicle registration, title transfers, duplicate title and duplicate plates and stickers. Recreation and social activities are an important part of independent living. There are plenty of activities to choose from including choir, card groups, special interest groups, educational speakers and classes, morning coffee, community education, writers group, book club and more!
