Any horse showing evidence of the use of ginger or other irritants to produce a higher tail carriage than normal shall be disqualified for that class. C. Use of switches, artificial tails or manes, and high spoon cruppers are prohibited and shall result in disqualification of the horse for that class. D. No horse having had surgery for purely cosmetic purposes will be permitted to show. SHOW RULES E. No ribbons (exception: forelock & first section of mane hair may be braided with ribbon for the Roadster classes), braids, glitter, stallion tack (excluding bits) or any decorative appurtenances, (excluding tack) are allowed in halter conformation or performance classes. Only braiding of forelock for driving is allowed. Judges will disqualify horses in violation of this rule for the class in which the violation occurred.  Exception: Single Fine Harness, Viceroy, Formal Park Driving, Hunter & Jumper, Halter Obstacle, and Obstacle Driving where braiding of manes and tails is permitted. Costume, Touch of Class, Antique Vehicle Class, and Multiple Hitch classes are excluded from this rule. (Amended 02-08, effective 01-09) (Amended 02-12, effective 1-13) F. Horses must not be shod. Use of pads, wedges, chains, weights, weighted ankle boots, elastic bands, shackles or any other artificial appliances that enhance a horse’s action will not be allowed on any showgrounds of AMHA-approved shows. Unweighted bell boots, splint boots, or quarter boots for protection may be used in warm up areas only. Un-weighted bell boots are optional in Roadster classes. Evidence of any infraction shall result in disqualification of that horse and that exhibitor for the balance of that show and shall result in the forfeiture of all trophies, ribbons, awards and points won by that horse at that show. AMHA shall be notified of any such disqualification by the show manager when show results are reported. Evidence of any inhumane treatment to a horse including but not limited to blood, whip marks that raise welts or abusive whipping, in or out of the show ring, and performing sliding stops while driving shall result in disqualification of that horse and that exhibitor for the balance of that show and shall result in the forfeiture of all trophies, ribbons, awards and points won by that horse.
