The Board of Directors of the Association may adopt procedures and guidelines for the implementation of the prefix and suffix reservation process and for determining when and if a prefix and suffix or horse name is deceptively similar to a previously recorded horse name or previously reserved prefix and suffix and published in The Miniature Horse World, or elsewhere as required by copyright or trademark laws, for 60 days. Names of horses may not be changed after registration; however if blood typing and/or DNA testing results in a change of sire and/ or dam and the registered horse’s name includes the name of either sire or dam, only that portion of the name must be deleted or changed. When it is determined by the Registrar that a name is offensive to any race, creed, color or national origin, the Registrar has the right to refuse the registration. The name of a horse may not be changed after registration unless it is offensive to any race, creed, color or national origin, in which case, the Registrar has the right to require a change in the offensive part of the name only. (Amended 02-09, effective 01-10) 184C Breeder The owner or lessee of record of the dam at time of service or embryo transfer shall be listed as the breeder. (Amended 12-03, effective 01-04) (Amended 02-07, effective 01-08) 184D Temporary Registration 1. Any horse registered temporarily prior to January 1, 1988, shall be eligible for permanent status at age of thirty-six (36) months. After June 1, 1988, any horse must be brought to permanent status within six (6) months after becoming eligible. If not brought to permanent status, temporary papers will be revoked. 2. Any horse applying for temporary registration after December 31, 1987, shall not be eligible for permanent registration until three (3) years of age (thirty- six months). Permanent status must be applied for within six (6) months after becoming eligible. If not brought to permanent status, temporary papers will be revoked. (Amended 02-09, effective 01-10) 184E Term of Temporary Registration Temporary certificates shall contain the following phrase on the front of the certificate: This certificate is valid until three (3) years of age (thirtysix months) unless horse exceeds thirty-four (34) inches in height. Registration will be revoked six (6) months after said date if application is not made for permanent status. (Amended 02-09, effective 01-10) 184F Reinstatement Revoked regist ration papers may be reinstated, provided the 54
