A. ‑Single Pleasure Driving is a single horse driving class, hitched
to a show cart with metal spoke wheels. A basket, boot and side
check or over check are mandatory. To be judges on the following
criteria, in the listed order:
PERFORMANCE AND
QUALITY ARE
PARAMOUNT
PERFORMANCE Presence and elevation with
forward impulsion, steady in each
gait with definite gait changes.
QUALITY A bold picture, demonstrating
freedom of movement, while in
the bridle, in a collected manner
displaying the horse’s athletic
ability with forward impulsion at a
collected trot. At the working trot,
the horse exhibits more power,
speed and motion. It is performed
with a lengthening of stride but
no decrease of collection or loss of
form.
MANNERS Horse should appear willing to
work with a quiet mouth.
ATTITUDE Settled in the bridle with, smooth
gait transitions.
CONFORMATION
Form to function.
APPEARANCE Of both equipment and drivers
attire.
C. Gait requirements:
The horse should give an appearance of being a pleasure to
drive. Though animated, the horse should be natural and
balanced in all gaits.
1. Walk: A four beat gait demonstrating collection.
2. Collected Trot: A two beat diagonal gait. Overall balance
as shown above. Horse must demonstrate freedom of
movement, while remaining in the bridle. It is executed in
a collected manner and should display the horse’s athletic
ability with forward impulsion.
3. Working Trot: At the Working Trot the horse exhibits
more power, speed and motion. It is performed with a
lengthened stride but no decrease of collection or loss of
form.

B. Class requirements:
Horse is to be shown both directions in the arena at the Walk,
Collected Trot and Working Trot. Horse will enter counter
clockwise at the Collected Trot. Horse will be required to
stand quietly and back readily.
