CL-021 SPECIALTY PERFORMANCE CLASSES
VERSATILITY: Open, Amateur & Youth
A. The horse will perform three (3) disciplines in ONE (1) Class.
Harness Driving
Halter
Hunter (Abbreviated Course)
All three (3) disciplines to be judged equally and combined
for final placing. Any horse disqualified from one (1)
division is disqualified from the class.
1. There will be one (1) class: Stallion, Geldings and Mares.
2. Each division will be subject to the Open class rule for that
division unless otherwise stated in class description.
3. Horse must be three (3) years of age or older.
4. No Youth twelve (12) & under may show a Stallion.
5. One (1) Assistant or Header (MUST BE AN ADULT) will be
allowed in the arena only for the heading and unharnessing
of the horse. Reference Header Rule CL-030-H-4 and YD010-H.
6. Exhibitor and assistant must be properly attired.
7. Class Procedure:
A. Horses will enter the arena at a pleasure trot or a
country pleasure trot* then perform a working trot and
walk in both directions of the arena. Headers will be
asked to enter the arena. Horses will be asked to rein
back.
B. The call judge will blow a whistle signaling the driver
and header, as a team, to remove cart and harness from
horse and do any grooming or halter changes. For
purpose of safety, the cart must be removed from the
horse before the horse is unbridled. Failure to do so;
will be disqualification and excused from the arena.
Each horse and handler will go to the rail in order
of completion. After a two (2) minute time limit the
call judge will blow the whistle for time. Any horse
not removed from cart or harness will be disqualified.
Headers will be asked to exit the arena with cart and
harness, in an orderly manner. (Amended 02-13,

C. HORSES ARE TO REMAIN IN THE SAME ORDER
FOR THE REST OF THE CLASS AS THEY GO ON
THE RAIL, BOTH FOR THE HALTER AND HUNTER
PORTIONS.
D. Horses will be judged at halter. No teeth will be checked.
Horses will line up head to tail for inspection. Horses will
not be asked to move.
E. Horses will jump a course of three (3) jumps. One (1)
left turn to the inside may be demonstrated. Course is to
demonstrate horses’ style, manner and way of going.
*Cross-over rule CL-035-E does not apply to Versatility
This class will be optional at Local Shows and mandatory at
