Jane's Delicious Urban Garden: Sustainable City Living Jane Giffiths Sunbird • 978 1 9202 8987 4 Most of us these days, anywhere in the world including Africa, are city dwellers (though we may call 'home' somewhere in the country). So, many of us are living in urban conditions not, apparently, suitable for home gardening as once was routine. Jane Griffiths, whose bestselling Jane's Delicious Garden has inspired so many to try their hand at growing edibles in their own gardens again, has taken the next logic step in providing this lovely coffee-table book which also double-times as a handbook on exactly how to utilise whatever space you have, no matter how small, to produce delicious edible things that are filled with nutrition and goodness – and grown by your own hands. It's nearly as satisfying just paging through this lovely book as it is to eat the food it is encouraging us each to grow ourselves. World Atlas of Food Recipes by Jenny Morris; text by Marielle Renssen Map Studio • 978 1 7702 6699 5 Wow, this is truly a mammoth undertaking – an atlas of the world's food, no less. This coffee-table book is nearly as big as the topic it takes on. Listing foods by region and then country, these two foodies provide us with maps to which country's cuisine is being looked at, giving a leading dish's recipe and picture thereof, plus other traditional dishes (briefly described) and traditional drinks (also briefly described) as well as an overview of the country itself from which these traditional foods and drinks have come. Beautifully laid out, the amount of work involved must have been huge. A great addition to any foodie's collection. Tasha Natasha Sideris Jonathan Ball Publishers 978 1 8684 2266 1 In this, her first cookbook, local restaurateur Natash Sideris provides a beautiful coffee-table style book of her favourite recipes. Folllwing the success of her first restaurant, started in Atholl, Johannesburg in 2005, Sideris has partnered with Famous Brands and gone on since 2008 to open themed restaurants across the country and most lately in Dubai, each with their own inspirational cuisine style. This is a lovely hardcover book with soft pastel-style pictures showing her food – and some other images that hint at the 'flavour' of her eateries – along with the recipes necessary to produce each mouthwatering offering. A must-have for every foodie. ODYSSEY 71 •  DIGIMAG
