INSIGHTSOUT THE DYNAMIC SANCTUARY Commissioned by Ford to create an installation inspired by the technology and design of the new 2015 Ford Edge, Brooklyn-based design studio The Principals designed a new type of architectural space that 'de-contextualises users from their standard environment', using a pulse sensor to link their biorhythms to the architecture they are inhabiting. The exterior of the installation was constructed from corrugated plastic cut and formed into panels with gentle curves. The interior was a surprise, heightened by each visitor being asked to wear protective coverings over their shoes. The interior consisted of a rectangular space with mirrored panels on the ceiling and floor creating the illusion of a weightless environment. For info click here. THE SOUND OF SPACE NASA has been able to convert electro-magnetic waves that our celestial neighbours have been emitting into sound. Simply put, they are eerie and beautiful. Here are a few examples. first BLESSED African In January, Pope Francis announced that Benedict Daswa, a Limpopo school principal who was stoned, beaten and burnt to death for his Catholic beliefs, would become the first South African to be beatified. The ceremony took place recently in Tshitanini village, not far from Daswa's house, where the Italian Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, celebrated mass. Bishop Hugh Slattery, who headed the campaign for the beatification of Daswa, told newspapers that 'Daswa can't become a saint for the universal church because he didn't perform a miracle, but we managed to prove his death was (that of) a martyr.'
