SIMMONS, SIENNA MILLER DIRECTOR ANDREW ONWUBOLU STARRING STEPHEN ODUBOLA, MICHEAL WARD, KHALI BEST Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman 22 NOV takes centre stage in this breathless action thriller about a disgraced NYPD detective who gets a chance to redeem himself. Over the course of one wild night (during which Manhattan is placed on complete lockdown), Boseman’s Andre must find the perpetrators. But danger – and twists – await at every turn. Can anyone be trusted? Andrew Onwubola (aka Rapman) makes 22 NOV his feature film debut with this hard-hitting crime thriller about two friends who find themselves on opposite sides of a violent London gang war. Don’t let the lack of big-name stars or miniscule budget put you off, this is a bold, all-too-real, rap-fuelled affair with sensational performances from Stephen Odubola (Timmy) and Micheal Ward (Marco). Still unsure? Check out Rapman’s superb Shiro’s Story on YouTube. It’ll definitely convince you! Motherless Brooklyn 15 21 Bridges Watch the trailer Absorbing crime thriller based on the bestseller DIRECTOR EDWARD NORTON STARRING BRUCE WILLIS, GUGU MBATHA-RAW, EDWARD NORTON Nineteen years after his directorial debut (the tepidly received Keeping the Faith), acting giant Edward Norton returns for a second stint behind the camera, and this time he’s hit a home run. Based on Jonathan Lethem’s bestseller, this mean and moody thriller sees Norton’s Lionel, a private ’tec with Tourette’s Syndrome, attempting to solve the murder of his mentor. Gorgeous to look at, with a cast that oozes class, we can’t recommend this one enough. 22 NOV Judy & Punch 15 Darkly comic revenge drama set in the distant past DIRECTOR MIRRAH FOULKES STARRING DAMON HERRIMAN, MIA WASIKOWSKA, BENEDICT HARDIE This dark Australian drama premiered to a rapturous reception at the 2019 Sundance Festival with critics describing it as “a Grand Guignol romp” and “twisted and delightful”. Starring Alice in Wonderland’s 22 NOV 8 ODEON.co.uk Mia Wasikowska as Judy and Mindhunter’s Damon Herriman as Punch, the plot offers a live-action take on the famous puppets complete with sausages, slapstick and spousal abuse. It’s not easy viewing at times (nor is it easy to categorise) but it’s always compelling and marks director Foulkes out as one to watch. Watch the trailer
