Watch the trailer
walks its way into cinemas.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as
Arthur Fleck/Joker, this gritty,
low-budget production reveals
exactly why a mild-mannered
failed comedian breaks bad
with a vengeance. Phillips
has described his film as a
“tragedy” and the unsettling
trailer certainly backs this
up. Could we actually end
up feeling sorry for Joker?
“We’re treating a guy who’s
ultimately a villain, or
supervillain, in comic-book
terms, like a real person you
love,” Phillips told Empire
magazine. “We hope you’re
on his side, until you can’t
be on his side any longer.”
