Being on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you probably scroll through your news feed containing various statuses from a meal a friend just ate at a restaurant you’ve never heard of but everyone finds amazing, to an adorable picture of a cute French Bulldog from a profile you follow that ONLY puts up pictures of cute ‘Frenchies’. Then, you get a status from Florida CKI on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter. The update is a reminder to sign up for Leadership Training Conference, and that the deadline is coming soon. And as you find these posts very helpful in keeping up with the Florida CKI world, you realize that you don’t know whom to thank for the constant reminders, updates, and news. Well fear no more! My name is Jake Beaty. You may have heard of me (probably not), and if you haven’t, I am the Public Relations Committee Chair for the Florida District CKI. I am a sophomore at FSU double majoring in Criminology and Political Science, and I am still in my first year with the KFamily. My job is basically to keep everyone in the district updated on district events throughout the year, and the best way to do this is through social media. If you happen to not follow us on social media, don’t worry about it! We have Facebook (Florida District Circle K International), Twitter (@floridacki) and Instagram (@floridacki) pages that you can follow! On August 22nd the Sunbelt division had a joint Divisional Council Meeting (DCM) with division 14b Key Club. 40 of us meet bright and early at Sulphur Springs Museum to start our morning of service before the meeting. The University of South Florida, Hillsborough Community College- Southshore, and Polk State College were in attendance from the Sunbelt division. Phoebe the Suncoast Lieutenant Governor was also there in support. We pulled invasive species from around the park in conjunction with both Circle K and Key Club's Governors Project. This was also a great way for both Circle K Clubs and Key Clubs from around the area to meet and get to know each other. The members seemed to have a wonderful time and can't wait for the next DCM! At this meeting we went over odd and in's, what we have been doing this summer and what our clubs plan on doing this fall semester. These clubs are up to great things and I can't wait to see all the great things they are going to accomplish this year. -Mary Stack , Sunbelt Lieutenant Governor 7
