Rule #4: Lightweight traction! ! The most important gear for all obstacle races goes on your feet, especially when most OCR events include water and mud obstacles. ! Most people are tempted to use a pair of old runners when participating in an obstacle racing but this will most of the times only end in misery. What you want is a pair of shoes that will give you grip, support, prevent blisters and most importantly drain water and mud quickly and remain light throughout the race. ! The last thing you want are shoes without traction that act like a sponge and have poor drainage, this will only slow you down and make some obstacles harder to overcome. ! Trail-, fell- and minimalistic shoes are all favorites in obstacle racing and to make things easier some brands have now even released OCR specific shoes! Gloves Performance Fabrics Light Weight Shoes Compression Socks ! Rule #5: Only essential gear on the field! ! This is a basic and simple but essential rule, you don’t want to run with anything you don’t need or afraid of losing during the race. ! Leave sunglasses, jewelry, mobile phones, car keys, cards and anything else you don’t need in your bag (bag drop), car or home. Publisher! Cai Denny
