It’s my forth time racing the beast in Killington and I’m always back for more because I love this place so much : The town is pretty, the mountain is hard (but awesome) and this is where it all started for me. ! I knew it was going to be a hard race on the 2014 world championship starting pen : it’s always been that way! My goal was of course, to get my world champ tittle back (2012) but i knew that the field was really deep and strong so being on the top 3 seemed like a more realistic goal. ! My strategy for the race was to start with a good pace that i could keep up for about 4 hours and not try to give my all during the first 2 hours. Seriously, at the beginning i was barely on the top 10 and I was a bit doubting that steping on the podium will be a possibility for me that day! Despite it all, i stayed focus on my race! ! At one point, i started to pass girls to finaly hear that i was in 4th place only 3 minutes behind the leader and 5 miles to go. I was in shock : the leader was so close, i was feeling great and i had a lot of time to catch her up! Let’s do it! Corinna (she was in third place at that point) and I caught up the Czech girl who was in second place at the tire pull : I was now in third place on Corinna’s heals! ! We pushed each other really hard on the mountain and i guess both of us couldn’t believe it when we passed the leader at the sandbag carry! I think it’s at that specific moment that i realized That i could win the beast! ! Corinna took the lead, followed closely by me. I wanted to pass her so bad but i knew that i should save my energy for the end ! ! I played my magic at the tyrolein traverse : I managed to pass Corinna and took her some time! Yeah! People were cheering for me and telling me that there was only 1 mile left to the race! I gave my all, Corinna on my heel, but that last mile was packed with obstacles so it seemed like it was a never ending race... ! I did so many burpees in that last single mile but luckily, Corinna was having the same luck!
