FEATURE STUDENT EDUCATION Pushing © GettyImages/SolStock the boundaries of occupational therapy education A Terri Grant and Alison Blank explain how University of Worcester students have been encouraged to push their own boundaries to help them think about how clients may feel when asked to do something outside of their comfort zone desire to keep teaching innovative and experiential, as well as take advantage of new outdoor activities facilities at Lakeside campus, was the inspiration for a series of sessions designed for second year occupational therapy students at University of Worcester. A series of sessions entitled ‘Pushing the boundaries’ took students outside their comfort zones and outside the classroom, prompting reflections that linked to practice, as well as team development and fun. Session one was a whole day workshop at a local equipment designer and manufacturer, where students were invited to engage in ‘blue sky thinking’ around bathroom design for complex cases. The second session was a collaboration with the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science and the inclusive sports programme, while session three saw the students and staff undertaking a ropes course, paddle 24 OTnews January 2019
