including the Annual Careers and
Employment Expo.
The Careers and Employment Expo
is our signature and largest event
attracting over 3,500 students from over
32 high schools across FNQ annually.
The whole-day event provides students
with an opportunity to explore career
and employment, year 13 pathways
and direct access to the most up-
to-date information provided by over
40 exhibitors including universities,
training providers, Defence force
recruiting, local industry and business,
employment agencies and government
departments from across the country.
GROWTH
The Expo has grown significantly in
popularity and diversity each year as
students, teachers, parents and other
job seekers continue to realize the
benefits and outcomes of attending
the Expo and how these positively
contribute towards a career pathway.
Expo attendance remains high and
opening up the Expo to the general
public in 2008 has been positive.
Attendance by parents, other job
seekers and the general public is also
expected to continue to rise. The BLA
is committed to expanding the Expo
and maintaining a quality event to
accommodate these future increases
and ensure wide-reaching and
meaningful outcomes for the region’s
education and employment sectors.
Whilst the BLA (a not-for-profit-
organisation) makes every effort
to run the Expo as a cost-neutral
event, (the only event of its type
for secondary school students in
FNQ) we will continue to maintain
the affordability for students,
teachers, parents, job seekers and
the public to attend free of charge
to access vital career development
information and opportunities.
We couldn’t do what we do without the g enerous support of our sponsors.
