As we open our diaries to realise that Christmas is less than 4 weeks away we also come face to face with humidity .
During the winter months in our tropical paradise we tend to forget just how intense the humidity is .
We change our outfits to sheerer fabrics , we change our footwear from closed in to open toe , we change our bed linen , we even change from red wine to a crisp chilled white , but we usually forget to change our makeup routine …
We then wonder why the lovely dewy foundation we wear all year round doesn ’ t even last past the 9am meeting . Here ’ s some sneaky cheats to help you through the festive season , so you can still look fabulous even at non air-conditioned events .
PRE PREP In summer , we naturally produce more oil and have more residue on our skin from sweat . This is time to up the exfoliation . I personally love to also add a mud mask to my weekly routine . It keeps our pores clean and during summer these treatments aren ’ t as drying . Always finish with a night cream to lock in some moisture , and remember if you are doing extra exfoliations , be extra sun-safe .
Having a cleaner base to begin with will make a big difference to how your makeup stays intact .
During summer , a light serum under makeup is enough and absorbs quickly .
PREP Primer ! Primer ! Primer ! If you haven ’ t done so already , invest in a bottle of primer .
With so many on the market , it ’ s best to buy the same brand as your foundation . Primer evens the porosity of our skin and smoothes the surface , so foundation has a clear canvas to work on , and helps foundation stay on longer by stopping our skin absorbing it .

FOUNDATION Make sure you colour match your foundation to check you haven ’ t changed shades . We naturally swing between two shades year round , winter is slightly lighter and summer we tend to have more glow .
Summer season calls for a Matte finish foundation . A dewy finish is just too heavy in the heat . Remember to always set your foundation with a powder to hold it in place .
In humid conditions , don ’ t spray your face with hairspray . Whilst this trick will hold the makeup together , it doesn ’ t hold it to your face . The result is makeup coming off like puzzle pieces !
CHEEKY TIPS Swap out your mascara for either tinted lashes or lash extension to avoid the panda eye look Tint your eyebrows to save the extra product on your face .
Limit the amount of foundation placed on the upper lip area .
Stay clear of eye liner on the lower lash line for outdoor events .
