Let the Good Times Roll!
Many people do not know that Mobile, AL is the birthplace of
Mardi Gras in the United States. Our parades started rolling in 1703
and the tradition was taken to New Orleans a few years later by
Mobilians. This year, we had numerous formal balls and 49 parades
rolled in our area between February 2, 2019 and March 5, 2019 also
known as Fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday is the last “Blow Out” day before
Catholic Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and sacrifices must be
made by giving up some personal pleasure until Easter. For us Non-
Catholics, it is just a great excuse to go out and have some fun!
