CNS Conference 2016
The CNS Young Investigator Award for Outstanding
Research was presented to Dr. Richard Bazinet for
his extensive contributions to the understanding of
fatty acid uptake and metabolism in the brain. He
presented an overview of his program along with
highlighting the contributions of his many mentors,
students and colleagues to his work.
DNS graduate students were also honoured at the conference. Recent
graduate Dr. Julie Mason-Ennis won the PhD Dissertation Award for her
Outstanding Research Contributing to the Degree of PhD. Kathryn
Hopperton, Marc-Olivier Trépanier and Christopher Villa were recipients
of the Nestlé Nutrition Graduate Student and Trainee awards.
Kathryn Hopperton came in first place in the CNS Oral Presentation
Competition, while Arti Sharma Parpia won the CNS Poster Competition.
The 2016 conference featured posters and oral presentations from
many other DNS members. DNS professors Mary L’Abbé, Khursheed
Jeejeebhoy, Richard Bazinet and Deborah O’Connor and recent DNS
grad Dr. Shirin Panahi spoke in conference sessions, while graduate
student Mavra Ahmed presented her work in one of the student slots.
