CONFERENCES
CNS Conference 2016
The DNS featured prominently at the 2016 Canadian Nutrition Society
Conference, which took place from May 5th-7th in Gatineau Quebec. DNS
students and faculty were recipients of several prestigious awards, and were
also widely represented in the poster and presentation sessions.
The conference kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Mike Evans, of the
University of Toronto Centre for Child Nutrition and Health and YouTube fame,
who discussed using technology and social media to ‘nudge’ the public towards
healthier choices.
Dr. Harvey Anderson won the prestigious Khursheed Jeejeebhoy Award for
Best Application of Clinical Nutrition Research Findings to Clinical Practice,
and delivered a wide ranging presentation on his work on food intake control
in children, discussing the contributions of factors such as maternal diet,
exercise, beverage consumption and TV viewing.
