It's essential to innovate the Nurse-Family Partnership program from the users perspective, and this is the mission of the Innovations Advisory Committee. Launched with the support of long-time donor, the JPB Foundation, this committee consists of a dynamic group of NFP nurses and supervisors from across the country who bring ideas and the energy to make things happen.
The Innovations Advisory Committee meets monthly via conference calls and comes together annually. The creative ideas start flowing on day one and don't let up. Everyone is committed to finding innovations that improve upon implementation and support service to our moms and babies.
Topics under discussion ranged from serving the highest risk clients to nurse recruitment and retention to incorporating telehealth. Accomplishments included developing guidance and materials to better locate and serve the highest risk clients, and recruit and retain nurses committed to this work.
The team from HopeLab reported on the development of the goal coaching app that this group helped create at last year’s Hackathon. The app is being built and a usability test in the field will happen later this year. "The contributions of this team are invaluable," said Fred Dillon, director, strategy & innovation at HopeLab.
In the coming year, subcommittees will be added including a subcommittee made up of NFP moms. "We will now truly have the most essential user of the program informing the content and delivery of the program," said Elly Yost, Prevention Research Center director of program innovations.
