force for good award

To recognize elected officials for making a difference for families living in poverty, Nurse-Family Partnership has created the Force for Good Public Policy Awards.

We chose this name because Dr. David Olds, founder of Nurse-Family Partnership, describes the impact of our program as a force for good that changes the future for two generations.

Meet Utah Senator Luz Escamilla (D-Salt Lake City) and Utah Representative Ed Redd (R- Logan). The pair introduced and led the bipartisan passage of Senate Bill 161 in March, which creates an evidence-based nurse home visiting pay for success program within the Utah Department of Health.

The bill holds programs accountable to achieve these outcomes for Utah families: reducing preterm births and child injuries and increasing child immunizations and maternal post-partum depression screenings.

The bill's pay for success structure calls for private investors to provide the upfront capital for the program expansion. If the program achieves the required outcomes, then state government will pay back investors.

The Force for Good Public Policy Awards Program will recognize up to 10-15 policy makers annually.

Thank you to all of the federal and state officials across the nation who have helped us achieve significant appropriations and public policy victories.
