In 2013, Piffany Copenhagen

Summary

produced a line of patented
LED block candles in Denmark. The company is now

ready to present an expanded

collection in multiple colours
at this year’s Formland. Now

the collection comes in realistic pillar candles, dinner

candles and tealight candles
in silver, frosted earth, bordeaux, anthracite grey, red,
white and cream.

In addition, Piffany is pre-

senting candlesticks and tealight holders for all kinds of

candles. The candlesticks are
designed by Pernille Vea.

- The advantage of the wax

candles with the patented
Sompex flame is that they’re
controlled by a special chip,

which makes the flame wave
at random – making for a

natural and cozy lighting. The
Sompex-candles are extremely reliable, says Lauritz Lykke

Smed, owner of the Danish
company Piffany Copenhagen, which sells the Sompex-

candles in all of Europe. He
adds that below 0.3 per cent

of the candles are returned
due to complaints.

An integrated timer makes
sure that the candles auto-

matically turn off, which increases the durability as well

as battery life. As something
new, the candles can be controlled using a remote.
