The curriculum will be led by Dr. Evonne Kaplan-Liss, M.D., assistant dean of narrative reflection and patient communication at the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine. “Practicing good medicine is extremely important, to be sure, but what can make or break a patient’s experience, and ultimately affects the outcome of their health, is the way a physician communicates and empathizes with them,” Dr. Kaplan-Liss pointed out at a recent conference. ot only will the new school of medicine address Texas’ growing physician needs, but also will provide new opportunities for employment and economic growth for the region. On the average, a medical school in the U.S. produces $1.7 billion of annual economic impact.
