INDUSTRY SPOTLIGHT Aviation DFW International Airport has had a fire training center since the airport’s opening 40 years ago. In 1994, a new training center facility opened at DFW, a joint agreement between the airport and the FAA that opened up the facility to firefighters from all over to come to North Texas for training as a regional training center. As a non-profit center, the facility charges a small fee to cover costs and fuel and rentals. Meanwhile, other regional training centers in the U.S. closed or stopped taking outside clients.
