KCS Intermodal
Facility Opens
Mexico-Canada
Commerce
Construction is underway on a 500-acre Kansas City
Southern Railway intermodal facility in Wylie, a $58-million-project that will connect North Texas commerce from
Mexico to Canada.
The KCS system has more than 6,000 track miles and
provides the only north-south rail network in and out of
Mexico. It services 12 Gulf ports and one Pacific Ocean
port, as well as more than 140 transload centers and 11
intermodal ramps. It also provides 181 interchange points
with other railroads, including all U.S. and Mexico Class 1
railroads. The projected completion date is mid-2015.
