A Message from Tom Black, Chairman of the Board
Dear North Texas Food Bank Supporters,
As we look back on an exciting and fruitful fiscal year, we are grateful for your
unwavering support as we worked to feed hungry North Texans. In Fiscal Year
2015, we provided access to more than 63 million pounds of healthful food.
We were able to achieve this milestone thanks to donations of food and funds,
as well as the advocacy and volunteerism of countless North Texas neighbors
who share a heart for our mission.
I’m reminded regularly of North Texans’ incredible passion for giving. Your
support in NTFB’s distribution center was invaluable as we worked to sort,
pack and distribute food to our Partner Agencies and program locations. In
fact, 34,000 dedicated volunteers gave the gift of time to help us get food to
the people who need it most, not only at our distribution center, but also through
our program sites and at numerous events throughout the community like the State Fair of Texas, Dash Down
Greenville, and many others.
Similarly, community donors continued to open their hearts and pocketbooks to fight hunger in North Texas: On
North Texas Giving Day, donors provided access to more than 1 million meals in 18 hours! Local corporate donors
made up 26 percent of the donations we received in FY 2015. Thanks to retail store donations and canned food
drives, 61 percent of the food NTFB distributed was donated.
The success of each NTFB program is because of you, and we are indebted to you for your support.
