PPRESENTERS (cont’d) Sandra F. Long Economic Strategy & Government Relations Governor Parris N. Glendening named Sandra Long to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce - second in command of Maryland's chief agency on commerce and industry. Her historical appointment marked the first for a woman or African-American to this post in America. Known as the dealmaker for the State, she has been awarded for her expertise in bringing public and private financing resources together which helped create more than 200,000 jobs within her tenure and brought millions of capital investment to the State. Ms. Long was responsible for Economic Development projects including Johns Hopkins Science & Technology Park (Team Development/Diversity Inclusion and State Financing), Arts & Entertainment Districts (State Financing/Implementation), Marriott Hotels (State Financing/Retention), East Harbor Development (Financing/Diversity Inclusion Team), Automotive, Manufacturing, & Aerospace Attraction Team (Pitch Development) and numerous business attraction, expansion and retention deals for the State.
