Command in Townsville for the carnival.
“The carnival was played in a fi ercely competitive
spirit that reinforced all that is good about sport
in Defence – elite physical fi tness, resilience,
leadership and teamwork,” MAJ Day said.
“Congratulations to BDR Dale Chivas (1Regt
RAA) and PTE Sheree Smith (1RAR) who were
worthy recipients of the champion male and
female player awards during the carnival.”
He said events like it had broader benefi ts for Army.
“The elite coaching and mentoring techniques
that participants were exposed to throughout
the carnival are easily adapted for unit training
and provide another example of the force
multiplying eff ect of sport in the ADF.”
