He trousered $4500
and all he had to do
was be a member.
John was the second
person to join on
October 2 last year.
In each of the monthly
Digger Dollars draws, he
has been given one ticket
for every monthly edition
of the magazine since he
joined (there is no edition
in January), so in the July
24 draw, he had 10 tickets.
Members get
points - 3,2,1 - if their
name is drawn in
the monthly Digger Dollars draw.
When somebody accrues six
points, they can claim the prize.
John was lucky enough to fi gure in
three consecutive draws - February,
when he picked up two points for being
drawn in second place, March, another
two points, and April where he picked
up another point for being drawn in
third place - giving him fi ve points.
He had to wait three months to bag
the fi nal point when he was again
drawn in third place last week.
Fresh back from working as an Observer
Trainer at Ex Talisman Sabre, John said
he had “no idea” what the money would
go towards, but it would
defi nitely all be spent
on “something nice”
for partner, Simone.
He’s been known
as “Bags” throughout
his life in Defence,
but now his mates
may start calling
him “Moneybags”.
