yet they come out with us as
we work in the desert every
three months,” George said.
The quarterly trips have been
predominately in support of cultural
research undertaken by traditional
landowners, the Mithaka, and
scientists and anthropologists
from the Griffi th University.
“Eff ectively, they have been mission
rehearsals for us in preparation for
the Plant Camp dig,” George said.
“Some of our blokes can’t even walk
unassisted, yet they’re the fi rst to
volunteer their skills, in this case a
diesel mechanic and electrician, to
help create a comfortable camp.
