NEWS & UPDATES 2014 ELECTION RESULTS FOR BOD AND NOMINATION COMMITTEE PRESIDENT-ELECT G. GREGORY HAFF, PHD, CSCS,*D, USAW, FNSCA G. Gregory Haff is the Course Coordinator for Postgraduate Studies in Strength and Conditioning at Edith Cowan University. He is a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach through the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) and a Level 3 Coach through the Australian Weightlifting Federation (AWF). Haff was the 2011 NSCA’s William J. Kraemer Sport Scientist of the Year Award Winner and has previously served as the Vice President of the NSCA and Assistant Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (JSCR). Currently, he is a Senior Associate Editor for the JSCR. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® with Distinction (CSCS,*D®), a founding Fellow of the NSCA, and an accredited member of the United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association. Haff is a United State of America Weightlifting (USAW) National Level Coach and has served as an outside scientist with the United States Olympic Training Centers Performance Enhancement Teams for track cycling and weightlifting. BOARD OF DIRECTORS – MEMBER DAVID SZYMANSKI, PHD, CSCS,*D, RSCC*E, FNSCA David Szymanski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory, and the Head Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coach at Louisiana Tech University. Formerly, he was the Sports Performance Director for Velocity Sports Performance-Tulsa. Prior to that, Szymanski was the Exercise Physiologist for the Auburn University baseball team for five years and the 4 Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach for two years. Before attending Auburn University, where he earned a Doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Szymanski was the Assistant Baseball Coach and Weight Room Director at Texas Lutheran University for five years. His primary research has focused on ways to improve baseball and softball performance. BOARD OF DIRECTORS – EDUCATIONAL/INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PROFESSIONAL PATRICK MCHENRY, MA, CSCS,*D, RSCC Patrick McHenry is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Castle View High School in Castle Rock, CO. He designs the lifting and speed/agility programs for all of the strength training classes, as well as works with the school’s 23 varsity sports. He earned his Master’s degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® with Distinction (CSCS,*D®) and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). McHenry is also a Certified Club Coach with United State of America Weightlifting (USAW). McHenry has worked with athletes from youth to the elite-level in a wide variety of sports. He has presented at international and national strength coaches and physical education conferences. He is published in books, journals, internet manuals, and videos. NSCA BULLETIN | ISSUE 36.08 BOARD OF DIRECTORS – SPORTS MEDICINE PROFESSIONAL MICHAEL G. MILLER, PHD, EDD, ATC, CSCS, FNATA Michael G. Miller is currently a professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation and is the Program Director for the Graduate Athletic Training Program at Western Michigan University. Miller earned his Bachelor of Science degree from California University of Pennsylvania and his Masters of Science and Doctorate of Education from West Virginia University. Miller is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as well as a Fellow of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (FNATA). NOMINATION COMMITTEE JOSE ANTONIO, PHD, CSCS, FISSN, FNSCA Jose Antonio is the CEO and Co-Founder of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (www.theissn.org) and is a Fellow of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (N SCA). He was the 2005 recipient of the NSCA Research Achievement Award and the 2009 NSCA Educator of the Year; moreover, he has published 14 books and numerous peer-reviewed scientific and consumer publications. Antonio completed his PhD and post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He is an Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University in Exercise and Sports Science in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
