Ross Gould of Oromocto, New Brunswick
has been a military man most of his
adult life. Recently, however, at the
age of 46, Ross has decided his days of
deployments and postings are over.
Trading the regular force for a reservist
day job gives Ross the best of both
worlds - the army and home too.
But before his new regime starts, Ross
needs a new pair of specs to function
at an optimal level and for that he
chooses Vogue Optical Eye Care Centre.

Since Oromocto is the bedroom community of one of the largest military
bases in the country, the Vogue Optical
outlet here caters to a large contingent
of military personnel, offering an
extensive inventory of male, female
and unisex eyeglass frames.
Ross’s needs are simple; practical,
sturdy glasses, not too flashy, but stylish
none-the-less. He starts with a pair of
plain, matt black Oakley Chamfers, in
a rectangle shape, but, he thinks, they
might be a bit too bland.
Sticking with rectangle contours, Ross
tries next a pair of DKNY frames in
brushed silver-metal with black arms.
They look good, although Ross sets
them aside to come back to if need be.
An interesting pair of Columbia Ewan
frames, marked “Extended Size”, catches
his attention, but neither the light
amber tortoise pattern nor the large
square shape suit Ross’s face structure.
He continues the search, trying another
pair in the Columbia line. These are
Mt. Johnson Columbia, in a thin navy
blue frame with a double bridge,
straight along the top and oversize

More solid are a narrow rectangle pair
of Blinks in a thicker frame, but Ross
decides the dark tortoise-shell pattern
is a little too bold for him.

oval at the bottom. Ross is not sure
he likes the oval shape, however, and
the thin frame doesn’t seem durable
enough for his needs.
In the end, Ross settles on a pair of
Ronan Columbia that are just the right
combination of practicality and design semi-rimless, in dark metal frames
with straight, partially split metal arms
that features a dash of red colour at
the temples.
The choice made, Ross is now fully
ready for his new role in his old,
familiar military world.
