Glimpses VIEL NAMED GLOBAL COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR SAFILO, BANANA REPUBLIC RENEW AGREEMENT Safilo Group, a worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and distribu- tion of eyewear, and Banana Republic, the global apparel and accessories brand, have announced their third consecutive licensing agreement for the brand’s optical frames and sunglass collections, effective from Feb. 1, 2019, to Jan. 31 2025. This new contract – originally signed in 2006 – further strengthens the partnership between Safilo and Banana Republic, and represents an opportunity to build on the brand’s steady business in the contemporary lifestyle segment for both men and women. Pramaor, the company specialising in the manufacture of top-of-the-range titanium eyewear under the brand name Blackfin, has announced the appointment of Mario Viel as Global Commercial Director. The manager, who will report directly to CEO Nicola Del Din, will lead the international sales team of distributors and direct agents. “After the extraordinary results of the past couple of years, the time has come to take the next step in developing our corporate organisation,” said CEO Nicola Del Din. “The future has never looked so bright. We are in the throes of improving and structuring the company on a number of different levels and Mario will play an important part in accomplishing one of these goals. I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun!” Viel, 55, has extensive experience in sales in the eyewear sector. After nearly 20 years with Luxottica, first as a key account manager and then as sales director Italy, he joined Marchon Italia in 2014 in the same capacity.
