If you want to see some of the best and brightest in town and experience what CNN Travel deemed one of the best places to see Christmas lights in the U.S., head to the annual Glittering Lights drive-through extravaganza at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (7000 Las Vegas Blvd. No.). With over 3 million LED lights and 500 dazzling displays, both animated and static, spanning 2.5 miles, it’s guaran- teed to make your holiday season bright. Visit for hours, prices and to learn about the Santa Tram and Fast Pass. December 9-10 & 16-23 Springs Preserve Holiday Express All aboard the Santa train–express service to Santa’s Magical Village. The journey is complete with all the trimmings, from snow to hot cocoa, and that’s just the ride on the rails. The magic of the season is bustling at the end of this merry line, where festive activities for the kids abound, including DIY holiday crafts and cookie decorating, holiday storytelling, an enchanting nutcracker display and more. And, of course, the jolly man himself will be sitting for photos! To keep your one-on-one with Santa more personal, there won’t be a professional photographer, but folks are encouraged to document their sightings with personal cameras or phones. Reservations are required; make yours at 18 November/December 2017 November 4 Las Vegas Championship Ribfest 2017 BBQ is dished up with a side of philanthropy at the Las Vegas Championship Ribfest held in the south parking lot of the Red Rock Resort (11011 W. Charleston Blvd.). Professional cooks and caterers, competition BBQ teams and novice backyard grillers alike bring their A-game to this event, competing for “Best Ribs in Las Vegas” bragging rights and cash prizes. Compete or just eat, the choice is yours, but do so knowing the proceeds raised go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada. Live music, eating contests and a kids’ zone are all part of the action. Tickets available at November 18 Symphony Under the Stars If classical music by moonlight is your jam, then don’t miss this third and final installment of Symphony Under the Stars at Tivoli Village (400 S. Rampart Blvd.). Members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic set up on the Piazza and present a selection of tunes for this serene outdoor per- formance. November 24- December 31 Magical Forest The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village (6300 W. Oakey Blvd.) is a staple of the season for Las Vegas, beloved by all who attend and for good reason! Not only does the enchanting winter wonderland support an amazing local charity, it con- tinues to awe and delight visitors with gorgeous light displays, carnival foods (Elephant ears, anyone?), whimsical gingerbread houses on dis- play, games, rides, music and entertainment.
