Notre Dame Catholic School Annual Report | Page 8

While athletics at Notre Dame was busy making its own historic run, the invigorated school band under the direction of first-year director Mrs. Rebecca Parker had no intention of being left out of the limelight.

Parker led the varsity band to its first ever state championship, and pulled double duty helping the high school choir achieve a fourth-place ranking in the TAPPS overall standings. Both groups had several members receive “excellent” and “superior” state recognition in various categories.

The band also made a much welcomed return to the stands during football season, with Parker and her terrific tune-makers pumping up the NDCS faithful on Friday nights. A highlight of the year was the band traveling to perform during the state-championship football game.

Three seniors represented our school at the TAPPS state academic meet, with Elizabeth Koch placing third in Art History, Brennan Ward with a 5th place finish in Prose Interpretation and Blake Winn’s 2nd and 8th place entries in Literary Criticism and Science.

Theater presented a well-received production of the Omelet Murder Mystery one-act play, and choir put on another riveting musical revue of 1940s music.
