“ Our schools all have the common focus on academic excellence , and each campus is also working hard to nurture the ‘ whole child ’ – from their leadership to character and every other aspect it takes to strive for success in the world ,” he said . “ We ’ re thankful our staff push our students to great heights , but any success isn ’ t possible without students putting in tremendous effort themselves .”
One example of the effort put into maintaining academic excellence can be seen at Steele Accelerated High School , which was named to the U . S . News & World Report ’ s Best High Schools list for the second consecutive year . Steele earned its place on the list through strong test scores and students ’ college preparedness .
High school students weren ’ t the only top-achievers of 2017- 18 . At the elementary and middle school levels , students and schools focused on campus culture and promoting a positive atmosphere . Granger Elementary School and Tidwell Middle School , for instance , were named National Schools of Character for their efforts to maintain positive campus climates that encourage ethics , values and more through their curriculum .
With two new schools – Curtis Elementary School and Adams Middle School – opening next year , even more campuses will find ways to leave their mark on their communities .
