Fine Arts Focus Love Elementary School Alex Salazar, 2nd Grade “Secret Code Shape Collage” To begin this project, we studied the artist Auguste Herbin and his “Alphabet Plastique” paintings in which he created a code that he used in his paintings. Alex created his own code using shapes and colors, then he decided on a word or phrase to illustrate in his artwork. We also looked at the paintings of contemporary artist, Reggie Laurent, and Alex incorporated his style into his artwork by drawing designs on and around his shapes with oil pastels. Saihara Aizawa, 5th Grade “Britto Candy Drawing” Using a grid drawing technique to draw objects in a large scale, Saihara created this drawing with pieces of candy. Then she studied contemporary artist Romero Britto and incorporated his style by outlining her drawing and adding patterns. Ngozi Unekwe, 5th Grade “Pop Can Portrait” Ngozi used a flattened aluminum can to create a portrait of a dog in the style of contemporary artist Didier Triglia. She also designed a background for her pop can portrait by painting onto a piece of cardboard. Ellis Reynolds, 1st Grade “Love Prints” Ellis created this amazing artwork with his prints from our printmaking unit. He made a circle monoprint (which he used as the letter “o”), marker and liquid starch prints, and Styrofoam ink prints. He glued down his best prints and then cut out letters to make a collage like artist Robert Indiana. 16 Sage Campbell, 4th Grade “Digital Radial Designs” After learning about radial balance, Sage used the program on inspirARTion.com to create this amazing colorful radial design.
