financial support to teachers and students in the region that Northwest ISD serves ,” said Executive Director Emily Conklin . “ Traditionally , NEF has matched the support of Northwest ISD educators in the annual employee giving campaign .”
Any educator in Northwest ISD is eligible to apply for an innovative teaching grant , and 99 grant applications were submitted this year . After a blind-screening process , a committee met to read each application to decide which applications to fund . Committee members said the process remains competitive every year , with lots of great ideas making for a tough choice of which grants to award .
“ I truly believe the programs and materials these grants will provide will have a powerful impact on students at Seven Hills Elementary now and in the future ,” said Melissa Quisenberry , Seven Hills Elementary librarian and a recipient of three foundation grants . “ I am thankful for the grant process and to have partners in providing meaningful opportunities for my students .”
