D CAPTURE 3D, INC By Andrew Larsen, Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance, Members and Partners Manager o you own or work for a manufacturing company? Would you be interested in increasing your throughput by as much as 75 percent? What if that could be achieved by making one change? Is that intriguing enough to get you to read this article? Good. Andrew Larsen Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance Members and Partners Manager www.pnaa.net PNAA SPOTLIGHT Let’s talk about Capture 3D, Inc., a growing engineering technology firm located in Issaquah, Washington. I recently had the opportunity to speak with Capture 3D’s Northwest Sales Manager, Staton Apple, to learn more about the company and its products and services and I can’t compliment his knowledge and his consultative approach enough. Who is Capture 3D and what do they do? Capture 3D was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Santa Ana, California as the exclusive ATOS (Advanced Topo- graphic Optical Sensor) United States partner for GOM Germany. The company is hyper-specialized in advanced optical metrology and automation. In fact, one thing that sets Capture 3D apart is that they only specialize in ATOS 3D scanners and automation. “We don’t want to be a jack-of-all-trades” Staton said, “We shoot to be the master of one.” Capture 3D is a unique orga- nization in the fact they solely implement ATOS 3D scanning technology and they believe their success is due to their targeted focus, mastery, and commitment to their customers’ success. The ATOS technology of 3D scanners is an alternative to CMM (coordinate measuring machines); those fun little boom arms with the pointy probe that uses tactile feedback to take measurements of the parts you’re manufacturing. 52 NORTHWEST AEROSPACE NEWS
