Vadnais Heights Business Guide & Community Profile
The Urgency Room (UR) model focuses
on a traditionally underserved patient
population. Patients have a broad range
of options when it comes to where they
receive medical treatment and the UR
strives to fill the gap between urgent
care and the emergency department.
“Historically patients didn’t have a
choice when it came to access of care.
If clinics were closed and you needed
immediate medical attention, the ER
was the only option. At The Urgency
Room, you have access to board-
certified emergency physicians along
with the necessary tools and diagnostics
onsite to diagnose and treat a broad
range of illnesses and injuries,” says
Medical Director Carolyn McClain, MD.
Open 365 days a year, the UR is
equipped with a CT scanner, x-ray,
ultrasound and lab and can care
for patients of all ages, quickly and
efficiently. The expertise of these ER
physicians, combined with their onsite
capabilities has provided a greatly
needed medical alternative for this
community.
In 2017, about 30,000 patients were
treated at the Vadnais Heights’ UR. Not
just Vadnais Heights patients utilize
the facility, but also patients from the
surrounding areas of White Bear Lake,
Shoreview, and additional communities
extending past Hugo and Forest Lake.
The Urgency Room is open 365 days a
year, including holidays, from 8am to
10pm.
