Business success requires the ability to jug- gle priorities, develop your financial and management skills with as much intention- ality as your clinical skills, and remain open to change that keeps your business exciting, challenging and relevant. In summary, stepping stones to success include: • fiscally conservative debt management • developing your advisor team • strategically advancing your expertise • standing up for patient protection through leadership and advocacy • cultivating your practice management skills These steps allowed dentistry to gain top positioning as a great career choice through caring for patients as we would want to be cared for and being humbled to serve in the trusting relationship that results. The competitive landscape of healthcare affords an opportunity to pre- serve and grow integrity and trust to new levels. Patients are more in tune than ever and will seek out practitioners that deliver technically at a higher level and behaviorally communicate their patient’s needs in a professional, evidence-based manner. The practice culture that culti- vates all these factors in a way that devel- ops trust and loyalty will reap success.
