Presently the dental clinic has a total of three treatment rooms: two for dental treatment and one for den- tal hygiene. There is available space to add one additional oper- atory and another dental assistant. In the future, volunteers will be needed to provide general dentistry and specialty services. Volunteer services can be provided at UITCT or in the practi- tioner’s office. Monetary donations or donations of dental equip- ment, instruments and supplies would be much appreciated. After practicing general dentistry for 47 years, Dr. Philip Lindley, as the new Dental Director at UITCT, is dedicated to improving the awareness of and services to the American Indian population. Dr. Philip Lindley is originally from Indiana and received a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University in 1967. He received his dental degree from Indiana University/Purdue University School of Dentistry in 1971. He spent two years in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps at Chase Field in Beeville, Texas from 1971 to 1973. After practicing 10 years in East Texas, he returned to graduate school and became the first resident to receive a 27-month certificate in Oral Implan- tology from Loma Linda University, California (1983-1985). In 1993 he joined the Park Cities Dental Group in Dallas as an owner and enjoyed a practice of general and implant dentistry. He thought he would retire in 2013, but quickly decided to return to dentistry on a locum tenens basis. After working in many different offices, Dr. Lindley found a niche and a mission at the Urban Inter- Tribal Center of Texas.
