Teach Dallas Children
Healthy Dental Habits
On September 27th, just one day before the Texas
State Fair began, nearly 80 kindergarten through
second grade students in Dallas gathered at
Jubilee Park Community Center alongside their
parents and the Guardian Life Insurance Company
of America ® (Guardian) and Children’s Health
Fund (CHF) to learn about healthy dental habits.
Guardian and CHF brought the Guardians of the
Smile program — a $1 million nationwide partner-
ship that aims to teach children about the impor-
tance of good oral health habits at a young age—to
Dallas to encourage healthy dental hygiene habits
for local children. While the state of Texas does not
require mandatory dental screenings for school-
aged children, a recent Guardian survey revealed
that 76 percent of Texans believe these screenings
should be mandatory, especially given the impact
dental pain has on school performance.
