A Dallas area native and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Southern Methodist University, Dr. Bell received his dental degree in 1979 from the Baylor College of Dentistry, and completed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Baylor University Medical Center in 1984. As an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, he currently serves in the AAOMS House of Delegates. He has previously completed terms as president of both the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Most recently, Dr. Bell served as the Chairman of the Oral and Maxillofacial Political Action Committee Board of Directors, and recently was elected President of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Bell serves as a Clinical Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry; Texas A&M University Health Center. He holds fellowship status in both the American and International College of Dentists. Dr. Bell maintains an active private practice. He is married and has two sons. He enjoys all types of outdoor activities, snow-skiing and woodworking. Dr. Douglas J. Dingwerth Douglas J. Dingwerth, DMD, MD joined Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas in 2002. Dr. Dingwerth was born and raised in southern Illinois. He received his bachelors degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1991, where he played collegiate basketball. In 1995 Dr. Dingwerth earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Southern Illinois University. During dental school, he was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Texas Tech in 1998. After which, he completed his internship in General Surgery and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Dingwerth is an adjunct assistant professor at Baylor College of Dentistry. He is also a staff physician at Baylor University Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds licenses in both medicine and dentistry in Texas. He is a very active in oral and maxillofacial surgery professional societies as a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Texas Society of OMS, North Texas Society of OMS and a fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). His surgical interests include dental implants, wisdom teeth, corrective jaw surgery, dental extractions, facial trauma, and oral pathology. Basketball continues to be one of Dr. Dingwerth’s favorite past times while he also enjoys golf, fly fishing and traveling. He and his wife, Karla, have two children. The family enjoys being active members of their church and community. Dr. Maxwell D. Finn Dr. Finn joined Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas in 1997. With an interest in health care dating back to his early teenage years, he was chosen to attend the High School for Health Professions magnet school in Houston, Texas. He later received a B.S. degree in biology from Baylor University. He went on to earn his D.D.S. degree from Baylor College of Dentistry and an M.D. degree from Texas Tech. He has additionally earned certificates for internship in both oral and 10 NORTH TEXAS DENTISTRY | www.northtexasdentistry.com maxillofacial surgery and general surgery as well as a certificate for residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, all from Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He is currently an attending physician at Baylor University Medical Center and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Dentistry. He is licensed in Texas in both dentistry and medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is very active in his field as past president of the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Oak Cliff Dental Study Club. He also received the high honor of being appointed by the Governor to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners in 2008. He frequently lectures on a variety of topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Finn’s surgical interests include dental implants, wisdom teeth and reconstructive jaw surgery and grafting. His outside interests include anything his children are doing. He was once the national unicycle trick-riding champion and appeared in various shows, parades and TV commercials with his brother and sisters. Dr. Finn and his wife Tiffany, who is also a dentist, are active members of the community and their church and are the proud parents of their daughters Lily and Ava. Dr. Phillip R. Newton Phillip R. Newton, DDS, MD is a Cum Laude graduate of Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science Biomedical Engineering Degree. He received his DDS degree from Baylor College of Dentistry and completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at Texas Tech Health Science Center.
