To get started, doctors must understand
what their lab spend percentages currently
are. Dental lab spend typically accounts for
around nine percent of the doctors overall
P&L, but that’s not to say the lab bill is
nine percent of procedure costs. In fact,
nine percent on the P&L typically equates
to 12 - 15% of the actual procedure cost, a
very important distinction to understand.
So a practice that has more hygiene revenue will show a smaller percentage of lab
spend on their overall P&L since there is
less money being spent on lab in generating their revenue compared to a practice
with a much higher percentage of revenue
derived from lab based cosmetic and
restorative procedures.
